why? :
I'm just asking out of curiosity, but who going to be the first to try a 8hp90 behind a duramax?

utterly insane option but the 8ap from zf might be an interesting option. mind you I don't know anything about price or command options, I just think it would be neat

M&m turbo 400s for the most part at around 25k or more to hold that much power and that’s before converters

Buy you a red case turbo 400 or a Rossler two speed turbo 400 aftermarket case get you about a it can run you anywhere between 5000 and $10,000 but it will hold most of the Duramax part you’re gonna throw out probably break a crank before you will break the transmission lol

You need to watch Wyatt’s (Whitt_built) duramax build. He’s running over 2000hp…3k+ ft lbs on a built 4l80e. Also I’ve got a 12 valve in front of a built 4l80e and it’s working good so far

build a race powerglide. I've seen those take 1000 HP built correctly

The reason you loose less power in a 4l80 is cause the internals weigh half the weight you can’t have giant shafts and planetary and only loose 15%. Think of a 48re its a weak light trans but with billet parts it stays light and can hold the power.

Honestly I’m not sure why you would do anything other than a 48 or a 400. They have both proven that you can hold 3k+ ft/lbs of TQ.

everything is larger and heavier in the allison huh? its a wonder they rob so much more hp over a 4l80. 🤷‍♂️

Pretty much 48re if your in a full size. If you go to a pro mod like setup in a car/little truck where weight is way down th400

Someone can 1000% build you a th400 that you do not have to worry about 1 bit just tell them what it’s for and what it needs to do

4l80s big benefit is each gear stacks , so every gear change there is no neutral in between to shock load the internals

Is is possible to 48re swap a durmax with a full manual valve body and if so how much you think it would cost for parts to swap it and shi I’m building my lly and want to build a trans before putting more power too it and I want to do something kinda unique I’ve asked some people and nobody can give me a straight answer

What if you ran the Allison but CNC'd lighter parts for it? Seems like building down an Allison is easier than building up a 4L80? 🤷

Don’t touch that :
Their more than capable of holding 1500 ft lbs of tq if you throw enough money at it. And your gonna throw a lot of money at it if you want it to handle that much torque
