Aviation experts are saying the weather may have been a factor in this incident A Learjet 60 crashed in Greenacres near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North on Sunday, leaving behind a fiery scene and wreckage so badly destroyed that large pieces of the aircraft were barely recognizable. The private jet was reportedly traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when things took a terrifying turn over Palm Beach County. Aviation expert DeWitt Ingram reviewed flight-tracking data showing the aircraft flying around 41,000 feet before descending to 35,000 feet, then plunging approximately 35,000 feet to the ground in about one minute. The impact was so violent that Ingram believes the aircraft’s speed could explain why much of the wreckage was reduced to small fragments rather than recognizable sections of a jet. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash, but Ingram raised concerns about thunderstorms potentially playing a role. He explained that severe turbulence and powerful air currents could have damaged the aircraft or caused the pilots to lose control, resulting in an uncontrollable, high speed descent. However, there is currently no confirmation that the jet encountered dangerous weather, suffered structural damage, or broke apart midair. Ingram, who was nearby when the crash occurred, said his niece reported hearing a loud explosion and experiencing a power outage before he spotted a dark cloud rising from the crash site. For now, the aircraft’s sudden descent remains a mystery, and investigators have yet to establish exactly what went wrong.
