The reason people w schizophrenia have better outcomes in underdeveloped countries is bc their schizophrenia is way different than ours. The content of their delusions and the voices they hear are not harsh or persecutory or antagonistic as ours. Culture plays a huge role in that

I take anti-psychotics. If I stop taking them I instantly want to hurt someone. I've hurt people before and been hospitalized several times when I was off my meds. Some of us really need them.

Best decision I ever made was to wean off of SSrI’s and anti anxiety.. it took years and was the hardest thing I ever did. But I see clearly now. I feel now. I’m actually living my life.

Took me a year to get off lorazepam. Benzos are dangerous, especially with long-term use.

This is dangerous. There are a lot of people, including my son who need their medications function in society. Yes, there’s absolutely people who are overmedicated. But we should not encourage people to go out their psychiatric medication without speaking to trusted providers and family.

Been off antidepressants and anxiety medication for about 3 years.. My adult daughter told me "this is the first time in years that I'm not worried about you". I became such a happier person, I still don't like a lot of people but I am happy ❤️

I’m a pharmacist and work in mental health and substance abuse. Although psych meds can be over-prescribed I would much rather the dangerous schizophrenic or depressed patient be medicated so they aren’t a danger to themselves or others. Definitely keep re-evaluating but I bet this woman, if she is truly schizophrenic, will likely return to medication at some point.

long term prescription of benzos, just a low dose (18 years) and being forced to stop cold turkey, I have lost all will to do anything, severe anhedonia, I don't really experience emotions anymore, no lust to wake up. and noone cares.

Best thing I did almost 10 years ago. Off meds, cleaned up, got fit, started a business and get to be a full time single father showing up every single day. Those drugs are the worst
