It seems kind of superficial to me. After all you'll never know if you have truly become immortal, and if there is life after death, it will hardly matter. Rather than an inherent aspect of human nature, I believe this is a matter of social conditioning. Societies with low levels of individuation (such as many clan-based societies or the world of medieval monasticism, where the creator of a work would voluntarily remain anonymous) do not share this obsession with the survival of one's name. The anonymous builders of the cathedrals left no record of their names, yet this seemed to trouble no one. I do believe (with no really proof or academic search) that the universal element is not the "desire to survive," but rather the specific individualistic, name-based form that survival takes : a form that is, in fact, a recent historical development. We have become far more conscious of this kind of "immortality" since the advent of the globalized world, where names frequently resurface long after a person's death, bestowing "immortality" upon individuals who may never have even sought it in the first place. Sorry it might be weirdly translated english is a fuckass language.

Truee.. in a world full of people wanting to be special, chase to be known by the ideas of which people will find helpful. Literary works may seem like a lot of work especially at the young age but it is a bit revolutionary too, perhaps that could push people into doing more in this field. But most importantly, we are not pressured into doing it, it is simply a habit that we choose to do for the excellence of it.

I believe it is human nature to be needing to be remembered somehow. It won't matter to them after death but it is needed to console their living self. Gosh, I could talk with you about this stuff for hours. Amazing work as always :)
