i think a persons perception of what success is is deeply rooted from past experiences and what makes them feel happy. a person may dream of pursuing a career of let’s say art as it’s something that bring out joy and comfort in them yet believe becoming a doctor is what will make them truly successful even tho it’s having to sacrifice the very dream that would bring out the feeling of being alive. this could be due to past experiences that taught them to perceive success rather than find success on their own terms. (sorry i got too into the topic 😭)
