as a professional athlete with 1,500+ hours of Pilates under my belt… here’s why you’re STILL not getting the results you want ↓ save this for your next Pilates class because sometimes the tiniest changes make the biggest difference ♡ 1. You think more = more. Pilates is not boot camp. If you’re flying through reps just to get your heart rate up, you’re missing so much of the controlled muscular work. Slow it DOWN. Control, resistance and time under tension matter. 5 intentional reps can be more effective than 20 rushed ones. 2. You think doing Pilates automatically = a healthy lifestyle. Pilates is incredible, but it isn’t the whole equation. What you eat, sleep, walking, hydration, recovery and the other ways you move all matter. Pilates should complement a healthy lifestyle, not replace one. 3. You’re not consistent enough. If you want to build a real Pilates foundation, I recommend AT LEAST 2x a week. Taking weeks off repeatedly makes it really hard to progress. Core strength can build surprisingly quickly, but you also have to maintain it. 4. You’re not treating EVERY exercise like a core exercise. Unless you’re intentionally relaxing or stretching, your core should be participating in basically everything. Think 360° engagement, like tightening a corset around your entire trunk, not just pulling in the front of your stomach. 5. Your form is slightly off. And slightly MATTERS. A tiny adjustment in your pelvis, ribs, hips or feet can completely change which muscles are working. Sometimes the difference between dumping an exercise into your hip flexors and actually finding your glutes is a tiny shift. 6. You’re choosing difficulty over precision. Advanced doesn’t automatically mean effective. If you’re sacrificing alignment just to do the hardest variation, regress it. When your alignment and resistance are right, even the simplest movement can have your muscles SHAKING. 7. Your instructor might not be qualified enough. A great instructor does WAY more than count reps. They understand anatomy, alignment, modifications and how to cue your individual body. If you usually take big group classes, try investing in a few private or semi private sessions. Those individual corrections can completely change your practice. 8. You’re letting momentum do the work. YOU control the springs. The springs don’t control you. You should be controlling the carriage in BOTH directions instead of letting the springs pull you back or using momentum to get through a movement. At first you might be like, “how the hell do I do that?” But with practice, you learn to feel the difference. The goal is control from beginning to end. save this, try these in your next class and remember: Pilates isn’t about doing MORE. It’s about learning how to do less, better. ♡ #snatchedwaistworkout #forthegirls #pilates #pilatesworkout #results
