He endures starvation, a jaguar encounter, quicksand, torrential storms, and parasites burrowing into his skin, all while suffering from severe hallucinations. Kevin refuses to give up on him, hires a local boat, and miraculously finds Yossi right before he dies of exhaustion. While Yossi and Kevin survive, Marcus and Karl disappear into the jungle and are never seen again.
