There are Bermuda grass greens, 100% this can be done, just wouldn't have cut it so low in one go, over several cuts you keep getting lower, it will be fine though. (comment on watering at night is correct, I mean you have to water in the fertilizer for at least 10 minutes, but night time watering is more effective and does not chance burning the already stressed leafblades in the sun.)
