Licensing issue, people who own Halloween 78 make it difficult to allow company’s like spirit to sell and promote products from said movie which is why it’s always going to be Halloween 2 since it’s owned by Universal they make it easier to do it.

I agree, I find it annoying that all of the Halloween merchandise has to mention H2. I can’t describe how annoyed I get whenever I see those face blood streams on everything Michael Myers.

Because Universal holds the rights to the sequel outright, it is much easier, cheaper, and faster for merchandise manufacturers (like NECA, Trick or Treat Studios, and Spirit Halloween) to secure a deal for Halloween II than the original film.
