@sheetmetalsamurai: This Is Why People Remove Their Grinder Guard Factory grinder guards can make it hard to grind or cut flat against your work surface. I trimmed about 3/8” off the bottom so the grinder can sit parallel while keeping the guard in place. ⚙️🇺🇸 Not the safest modification, so use proper PPE and know the risks. #skilledtrades #bluecollar #tradesmen #metalfabrication #madeintheusa
Nobody that uses a grinder much keeps that guard on

It is very important to keep your guard on your grinder.Never take it off as soon as you purchase it.Never do that, never have a pile of them in your toolbox. From all the grinders you've had in your welding career😁

I typically throw the guard directly in the garbage after I open the box in the shop, however, on the job site this might just work 😏

The guard is supposed to protect your hand? I was taught it controls where the sparks go

I would rather have a grinder with no guard for fiber and flapper disks. And a different grinder with the guard on to use cutting disks

which why most new grinders now have two peace guards. half that fully covers half of cutting wheels then can be removed for operations like youve shown.

Across the street this morning there is a guy working on a chimney. He has 3 levels of scaffold set up and is working from the top layer without no hand/saftey rails set up. So should I call the paramedics now or wait till he falls…

First thing I do AND remove about 7mm of the M14 spindle. The thread is flush with nut when I have a flappy on. Slightly proud with a skinny disk, the 1.2mm jobbies
