Being diagnosed with CPTSD was mind opening for me. So freeing. I always thought the problem was me but it actually was freeing to know it wasn’t me, it was my trauma. I’m so glad I didn’t give up!

Oof. That first year. I walked away cold turkey. Worship leader and women’s ministry leader. Wife of a leader. Daughter of a leader. Decided to lead myself and was burned at the stake for it. I barely survived but now….nothing better. Still painful but so much peace.

This. ❤️. I told my therapist the other day that I wasn’t sure how to describe it but maybe it was PTSD. She smiled gently and said, “I wrote Complex PTSD in your file a year ago.” It wasn’t funny but I laughed when I realized I was still dumbing myself down and she knew all along.
