It makes me so sad. No matter how many times you educate some of them truly believe pain meds will kill them rather than make the inevitable comfortable :(

As a hospice nurse, my kids will know to give me morphine and Ativan and stay on top of it. Do not be skipping doses if I’m in a nursing home, better advocate for me and make sure I’m getting them.

when my grandmother was passing from cancer i found out my grandfather was withholding her medication. I knew in that moment I would never forgive him. We had to fight for her to be able to die with dignity and as much peace as we could provide.

because everybody believes that if you take medication before you die you become a drug addict and that's not true my mother was on the end of life care and they did a great job giving her her medicine she couldn't breathe when she was dying and I couldn't watch her struggle anymore it made me cry so she got relaxed and she passed away like she went to sleep..

cause my dad said so 😅 I was told, and he pit it in the POA and his Advanced Directive he wants absolutely nothing 😂 he said if its my time pull the plug. I was like...not even pain meds??!!!! he said 'if im so out of it that I cant say give me the meds/do this then you let me go. this coming from the man who literally lives 'this is why women live longer'

Same here. I’ve seen too many patients suffer while they died, because they were denied medication. I do not want that for me or my family.

My Dad said he was done after he found out he couldn't have surgery to fix his heart a couple days before he passed away. The hospital took him off all the machines on Saturday and he passed away peacefully on Sunday 3 years ago.

My mom has terminal cancer, and we joked that after the nurses give her some end of life meds, I have to go into her secret stash and give her even more. She don’t wanna feel anything, and wants to hear colors 😂

my dad was on hospice. he hated those meds, he was more alert without them. he'd spit them out, id force them. He'd wake up and be pissed

I know right! my grandma just passed away from a massive stroke, we decided to let her go peacefully rather than keep her on life support. we were asking for everything that they could give her to make sure she didn't suffer while she was passing
