Girl please. I understand your frustration but I worked at airport long enough to guarantee you no airline want their flights delayed coz they get penalized way more than what you paid for on your tickets. And I worked at the airport long enough to know that it’s common knowledge esp traveling with children to give atleast 4 hours window in between connecting flights.

Port has no obligation to make sure you can make your connecting flight. They’re not the same company so there’s no obligation. They got you there if weather was an issue they have no obligation to give you anything. Sometimes you just have to have a little bit extra money in the bank to take care of these steps of the situation travelling is like construction it takes longer and cost more than you expect.

There isn't any Airline will hold back a flight because a plane from another airline is delayed. They are not going to give you accommodations. Delays happen and they are out of the airlines control.

Next time book both flights with the same airline. Or if you choose the cheapest flights give yourself more time in between flights. You will have to cover your own accommodations, this stuff happens all the time!

Your issue is with Air Transat. They are not responsible for your flight to gatwick. Our airport doesn't operate flights 24/7. You should have booked a flight earlier in the day. Porter was probably a 7 hour wait on the phones because they were closed (they are closed at 2am). Their only job was to get you to Toronto. Your flight to gatwick was booked separately. You are responsible for that. Your lesson learned: do not book connecting flights with less than 12 hours layover, make arrangements for a hotel.

If the delay is outside the airlines control ie weather - heavy fog yesterday-then compensation isn’t required . Read your ticket contract prior to booking in the future

we loooooove porter...and yea, no airline would give you a hotel for bad weather.. it sucks but toronto has a million hotels - there is one literally attached to the airport. should have just booked a room and fought for reimbursment later. i dont know if you'd have gotten it but i'd sure try..

Considering the weather yesterday in Toronto, if the flight delay was due to weather that’s outside of the airline's control, they don’t owe you compensation for that as it is not their fault. When you travel, you need to keep in mind that delays and cancellations happen, and if these are not in the airline's control, they will not compensate you. You always need to travel with extra cash in case these circumstances happen, there are plenty of hotels near Pearson you could have stayed at with your children.
