This is WHY I caught it on this specific bait and this can be applied to most trout fisheries around the world. If the water is high and muddy the fish can often be found up tight near the river banks or behind big rocks, log jams or other structure. They need the calm water, it’s easier for them to wait in the slack water than to fight the current all day. When a big snack floats by it’s tough for them not to strike at it. This can be a reaction strike at times. The fish are trying to see through the muddy water all day and then all of a sudden your bigger profile, dark/ fluorescent colored bait shows up… This is also a great time to catch a big one! Those big, old and wise trout have a harder time seeing your line. Next time it’s muddy and high don’t be afraid to get out there and throw a big streamer around. The fly rod I’m using is a 7/8WT ALLROD and my waders are from @adamsbuiltfishing If you’re interested in either and want to save some money use code fishlikemike10 on either website.
