A heavily pregnant woman got on my train last week. Everyone saw her but nobody offered her a seat. I was sat down and I gave her my seat…I am pregnant too but she was further along than I am so I was happy to do this. Public transport etiquette is in the gutter.

I have a heart condition which means I get very tired very easily. If I dont sit down I quite often pass out. Ive been told to get my fat arse out of a seat by a young woman with a lanyard and walking stick which was being carried under her arm. of course I got up and ended up Unconscious about 3 minutes later.... dont judge people in priority seats, you have NO idea if they need it or not

It's also a strange point in humanity to reach where it's deemed ok to film people going about their business without their knowledge (possibly) and post them on social media to demonise them 🤷🏻♀️

I had to get comfortable with shouting “I’m sorry, but could I have a seat, please?”. It feels awful the first few times, but standing for half an hour is worse.

Last time, an heavily pregnant woman came inside the wagon. A seat was available, she was walking towards it. A young man rush to the seat and smile at her... Another man gave her another seat but rushing and be happy to steal a priority seat from someone who needs it... Lm

i have spinal stenosis, i dont use walking aides yet but i cant stand for too long. also.........my physiotherapist says 1 crutch is absolutely no use to anyone

and to add to that.. as a woman in a route like this where more men travel at certain times, when i do get a seat, and a mom with a child comes in… best believe the child comes up right in front of me.. to the only woman sitting down.. with an expectation the woman would give up seat for the child because women are more empathetic. it’s wild.

Some people will play ignorant. You could also approach someone in a priority seat and ask them to move unless they have a priority need

Ask someone for a seat. You shouldn’t have to but asking makes it even more embarrassing for them .. and someone will get up.

100% if you asked many people would have given up their seat. You just need to ask inconsiderate people. You have to ask people completely unaware of your existence . People are sometimes dealing with their own issues and life struggles that they aren’t waiting for you appear .
