For everyone calling it “rituals”: all of these children were angels, like Jenny when she was little. But once we come down into this world, we’re given a choice: either we become as bad as society and let money and material things blind us, or we hold on to our inner angel and stay the way we are. The whole song is about Jenny refusing to become like them and trying to go back to heaven, because she sees this world as very dark and very lonely. But in the end she realizes she doesn’t need to be in heaven to stay an angel; she can be an angel here too, because she’s free and able to be her true self. In this scene, we see two younger versions of Jenny, scared of the world and convinced they’re destined to stay alone, under the control of these bad angels who represent the haters and everyone who tries to break her. Then the free Jenny steps in to help them, showing them that a person can live in a world full of bad people without becoming like them. The message is: you can live in a world full of hatred and darkness and still keep your freedom, stay true to yourself, and not let them change you. You can survive their fire and their hatred without becoming like them.
