Unfortunately I do not believe in the Bible BUT I am glad you did this for yourself, your knowledge would answer the movement of 'lent' and 'Easter'. These Christian holidays follow the lunar calendar. Christmas is clearly a 'new' holiday, that follows the Sun. Gregorian.
I have an interest in time as a subject and now subscribe to the African calender, infact, we are about to welcome the new year on the 23rd of September. I can bet you, in Vhenda, September has to do with rebirth, arising or something along those synonyms. I'm interested in the knowledge you have accumulated, have you compiled it somewhere we can read up on it?

Love this chat! My dad did his PhD on the original names of rivers and places (among others) and the naming conventions around them. These all had names that described their ‘behaviour’ and how to conserve them. They were also code for where people should settle/build etc because they would know about flood patterns etc. Then the colonisers renamed them after their grandfathers and the indigenous knowledge was partly erased. Now it’s as though nature conservation is a western concept. Anyway, unlearning and relearning. I also learned in recent years that in Venda culture, it is not encouraged to start anything new in August as it will not be rooted (I’m open to correction here).

then there's the dendera calendar which is based on Adam's calendar (inzalo ye langa). This colonisation thing is much deeper than we believe

Interesting journey. Nature calender has 13 months. Search on the net, there is a beautiful sensible explanation of each month in Setswana

This is the content above people who shout “revelation” on anything and those who think theology is not a necessity.

I’ve always wondered why is Sunday considered the first day of the week. It never made sense to and I’ve never accepted it. In my language Mon( Umvulo) means the opening so I’ve always used Umvulo as my first day of the week.
