@lifeuncutpodcast: Is transparency about cosmetic work empowering, or does it quietly normalise facelifts for a younger audience watching? And underneath it all: how much of this is choice, and how much is just the exhausting cost of trying to feel okay in your own skin after years of comparison culture, motherhood, and beauty standards that keep moving younger.

As a nurse working in plastic surgery, I’d honestly be shocked if a good, reputable and ethical surgeon recommended a facelift to someone in their 30s. Most surgeons I respect would be telling you to come back in 15–20 years. There’s a reason we wait until the natural ageing process has really started — when the skin has changed, volume has shifted and everything has begun to drop. In your 30s, if your concern is purely about ageing, there are so many less invasive options — good skincare, anti-wrinkle treatments. I also think we need to be really careful about how normalised cosmetic surgery has become. Body dysmorphia and the constant need to filterimages are becoming a huge issue.

I've had plastic surgery (TT and BL/BA) and I'm very open about it because being 40 years old, I don't want other women to wonder why their tummy or boobs don't look like mine. While mine was definitely for vanity, I did also lose over 80kg.

I’m 50 and honestly, my resting face makes me look like I’m sad or tired! I have to make a conscious effort to ‘smile’ all the time just so I don’t look miserable! If I could afford a facelift I’d get one. I used to be pretty and fresh looking!! 😭 But 30 is way too young - most women look their best at 30!!
