Don’t feel bad. I have a hometown buddy who’s a combat veteran. 6 years in service. MP and Combat engineer. Drill sergeant. Bullet wound in his knee. I asked him for any military advice and he said “yeah stay a specialist as long as you can. Be a career specialist. Avoid all the extra bullshit”. thought he was kidding until I meet SGTs and SFC tell me “I wish I was back to being a SPC”.
