On October 13, 2024, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of g*nfire at a home in Tijeras, New Mexico. Upon arrival, they discovered Mestre outside covered in bl**d and carrying a we*pon. Inside the home, deputies found evidence of a v*olent struggle and attempted cleanup. The b*dies of his family members were discovered stacked face down in a ravine roughly 50 yards from the house. The victims were Raymundo Mestre (46), his father Bertha Huerta Conde (51), his mother Brielle Mestre (17), his younger sister, and even the family dog was also sh*t multiple times at the scene and was later humanely euthanized due to severe injuries. Following his arrest, Mestre exhibited severe, erratic behavior stemming from untreated mental illness. He reportedly told deputies that he “had to k*ll” his family and made delusional statements, claiming his family’s wounds had healed, that he was hearing “seismic waves,” and that he sh*t at cell towers. Then, while left alone in a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office interrogation room, surveillance cameras captured Mestre punching and kicking a hole through the drywall. He managed to squeeze through the wall into an adjacent hallway in an attempt to escape before being immediately tackled and re-detained by deputies. Mestre was indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree m*rder, tampering with evidence, extreme cr*elty to animals, escape from custody and criminal damage to property In April 2025, a judge found Mestre incompetent to stand trial and committed him to the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas, New Mexico, for psychiatric treatment. He was briefly deemed competent in June 2025 around the time of his formal indictment, but his legal proceedings remain tethered to ongoing court evaluations of his mental stability. If there is an update to this ongoing case we will make sure to share that here! #truecrime #criminalcase #investigation #criminaljustice #mystery
