Old stuff wouldn’t work now. Rate limit, brute force wouldn’t work. The password is simple. Try mixing special characters and it will take you a whole year trying to brute force a WiFi password bc that’s the only password you can actually brute force now

Modern applications don't use MD5 or SHA-1 for password hashing because they are fast, deterministic cryptographic hash functions that are unsuitable for password storage and vulnerable to efficient offline brute-force attacks. Instead, password verifiers should use dedicated password-based key derivation functions (KDFs) such as Argon2id, bcrypt, or scrypt, with a unique per-password salt and an appropriate work factor. Encryption is fundamentally different: it provides confidentiality through reversible cryptographic transformation using a secret key, whereas password hashing is intentionally one-way.
