When you’re near failure, and you get a bit of assistance to do a few more, this can help you keep working the muscle under fatigue for longer and potentially break through strength plateaus. This is an intensification technique often referred to as assisted or forced reps. It made me think about how we view help in life. Sometimes we think needing assistance means the strength we built ourselves doesn’t count. But maybe a little help doesn’t take away from our strength, maybe it helps us use more of it.
