For me, it’s Oldboy. I fucking love Park Chan Wook, I’ve seen almost every single one of his movies and I love all of the others. It’s probably his most visually impressive film, but I just get so frustrated by how the women in Oldboy are written and it really hurts my overall enjoyment of it. And I’m usually someone who can criticize this kind of thing, move past it, and still enjoy the movie, but this one really rubbed me the wrong way.
