It's not just in romantic relationships, people have been developing avoidant attachment styles in their platonic relationships too.
People just want every interaction to be sanitized and frictionless, but that's unrealistic so people just end up avoidant and drop friendships at the smallest inconvenience.

Late stage capitalism. Can we restart it back to the first stage? Is there an “end stage”? What comes next after capitalism runs out?

Attachment requires mental effort. Screens and immediate gratification have made people afraid to commit to any kind of long-term effort.

100%. How can I be available and comfortable with someone when I’m economically unstable? It’s hard.

you don't change the system without us collectively changing ourselves first. systems don't force us into this behaviour - they _reinforce_ it yes, but the 'original sin' is our chronic lack of empathy, which we let atrophy more and more each year - not just for others, but also for ourselves.
if we solidly gave a damn about others, we would outright reject systems and leaders that are not aligned with that.
that's the elephant in the room - _we_, collectively, are the problem.
and we have to be the solution - by reversing it in our own private lives first. nothing else will save us, no system, no leader - because we won't allow them to exist if we're not ready for it. while we still consider empathy 'weakness', and refuse to live by it - we are the problem.
