The key to staying warm while backpacking? LAYERS! Having the right layers can make or break you when it comes to comfort in the backcountry. And QUALITY >> QUANTITY! Starting from the bottom: ☑️ Undies: it’s SO important to have comfortable undergarments. This is your support garment. It’s hard to recommend an undergarment, as every “body” is different, but I personally LOVE @Nike sports bras and @icebreaker undies ☑️ Base Layers: absolute game changer to have a moisture wicking/merino wool base layer in your closet. I LOVE these @smartwoolsocial pants and Icebreaker zip top ☑️ Mid Layers: THIS is where it’s all about versatility! Mid layers are meant to be warm, but breathable. I absolutely live in this Stio zip jacket and Pinedale Hiking pant on AND off the mountain! ☑️ Insulating Layers: this is where you’re looking to RETAIN heat! A down filled jacket with a hood is the gold standard here! The down material literally traps the heat from your body within the insulation, keeping you toasty warm on the mountain! @Patagonia ‘s down sweater is always my go-to for this! More on insulation: a wool beanie, baselayer glove, buff, balaclava, and wool socks are all nice to have 😉 ☑️ Rain/Wind Layers: never underestimate the unpredictable nature that is “mountain weather”. Your rain/wind layer is SO IMPORTANT to protect you from the ~elements~. Gore-Tex material is what you want to look for when choosing this layer! I have @Arc’teryx layers and LOVE them! . . . #backpackinggear #backpackingtip #backpackingtips #backpackingforbeginners #backpacking #backpackinglife
