In my view, the Minister was right to warn against Ugandans moving around with cannulas still in their hands as though they were wearing a watch. Cannulas should only be kept in place when medically necessary and under proper supervision. Leaving the hospital with one without appropriate follow-up can increase the risk of infection, bleeding, or accidental dislodgement. If someone needs outpatient IV treatment, the cannula should be properly secured and monitored by trained healthcare professionals.
