Everybody here is the explanation! So basically, she keeps getting evidence and goes to the library and stuff and keeps emailing her dad on computers and eventually she schedules a family therapy session with her and her mom and the therapist. They say that she needs more advanced treatment and she’s not doing well. Then her dad walks in and her mom starts screaming at her and then they walk out together and the dad wins custody.

If you’re a minor the therapist is legally required to report to the parents if they think a child is in trouble, otherwise they aren’t allowed to report due to patient confidentiality!

thats literally illegal. Therapists have to uphold confidentiality and cannot tell anyone anything said within a therapy session without the client's permission or unless it is to protect the client or someone else

She ended up reaching out to her dad on her schools computers and they collected evidence that the therapist was getting under the table payments to spy. He showed up to a family therapy appt and said he was going to file for full custody and reported the therapist

A therapist an actual licensed one a special like mental health therapist unless you were going to hurt yourself or hurt somebody else they legally cannot report to your parents to anybody about what you say. It is a crime they can get their license taken away.
