@jessjacksonnnn: I'm a professional horse trainer and I am sending my horse away...to a professional horse trainer 🐴🙊 Controversial topic I know, but I'm doing what I believe is right by my own horse for his welfare. #equestrian #horse #horsetrainer #horsegirl
Just asking bc i wanna be a trainer how do u not get attached to the horses u train?

Your doing the right thing. I've done with mine, best thing I've ever done. It's not cruel. It's called safety.

Just be aware that Hobble training doesn’t always fix the issue either. I now have a horse that decides to run hobbles. He’s a damn good gelding normally

Unrelated but look at all of the beautiful green fields you have now!! I remember you talking about having to downsize your horses because of the droughts!

I think its a good sign when a trainer uses another trainer, or an instructor still takes lessons from someone else too. You never stop learning with horses, there is always another way to train

As someone who had a weanling filly deglove a hind leg from the hock down and fracture a pastern, you're 100% doing the right thing.
My girl was in a post and rail but the neighbours had a hot wire against it that they didn't maintain. 3 months box rest with a cast. She survived, but I never broke her in because she couldn't lift it high enough to be comfortable with it on the inside circle. 10 years of love and plenty of friends before the scarring impacted her circulation and started causing pain.
If she had known to just stand and wait, I'd still have her now.

I know you acknowledged that that horse is obese, but I am less concerned about the rotund belly and excess weight than I am with that neck crest. I would definitely recommend getting an insulin test done (usually an easy process at your local vet) as this may be a more drastic situation than simply taking him off grass.

You know what? I LOVE a trainer that will put their hand up and say “that’s not something in my wheelhouse” rather than just give it a go anyway and the horse not he set up properly

I use the thunderbolt equirope for most of my fencing to avoid wire injuries and thankfully my big horses are all fairly well behaved with the fences. However my mini’s are the absolute devil and don’t seem to have an issue with getting zapped if it means they can access fresh grass🙄 aside from building post and rail with equine mesh fencing to keep them in, I am running out of ideas because they even bust through chicken wire😒

This is great to talk about! I could see myself doing the same thing if I had a horse that didn’t respect fences. Touch wood 🪵 all of mine currently respect the fences and stay in when they’re off.

I think this just goes to show how much you love and care about your horses to admit that you don't have the knowledge or skills in a particular area so you are sending him to someone that will do right by your horse and help him learn. I really admire you for doing it and also posting it on social media even though you may get some negative opinions about it.

my boy used to be the same, he would even go through barbed wire, he’s on a different property with worse fencing but it’s electric so he doesn’t touch it

Hobble training is a definite must for all horses. Even though they still seem to get around ok even when hobbled. Some are just whodeenies

I was literally only saying to my partner the other day that id like to hobble train my two horses just think it is just a handy skill for them to learn for many reasons. No different to muzzle training dogs or crate training. Yu do yu girl
