Makes logical sense. You need two too make a baby. Male gets a raise. Couple are more willing to have a child. Female gets a raise. Less likely because they would lose that extra money. Or a chance too

Perhaps women with children focus less on career? Idk. But men in larger families work more while personal household work is pushed on the wife. That’s work even if technically no usd is earned or taxed.
