We are expecting our third and final baby, (our first girl) we already love more than words can explain. Because of a medical condition and the medications I need to take, my pregnancy is considered high-risk. We’ve been told that I will have to be induced early, and that baby girl will need to spend time in the NICU after she is born. It is incredibly difficult to prepare a nursery and dream about bringing your baby home while also having to prepare your heart for the possibility that you may have to leave the hospital without her. My husband is a police officer and works night shift, so I’m the primary caregiver for our children. I’m used to making things work and doing everything I can to give my babies everything they need, but this time feels different. I also don’t receive paid maternity leave, and with an early delivery, a possible NICU stay, and time away from work, there are a lot of financial worries that I’m trying not to let overshadow what should be such a beautiful time for our family. This is our third baby and our final little one, and more than anything, I just want to be able to enjoy these last moments of preparing for her without constantly worrying about whether we’ll be able to afford everything she may need. I’m just a mom who is trying her best to prepare for her baby girl while taking care of her two other little ones and getting through a pregnancy that has been more complicated than we ever expected. It brings tears to my eyes because it reminded me that there are still people willing to show kindness to strangers. If you were willing to help our family with even one thing from our registry, it would mean more to us than I could ever adequately express. It would be one less thing for this mama to worry about during a time when there is already so much uncertainty. And if you’re not able to help, I completely understand. Truly.
