These are just my personal two cents, and I don't want to sound like a parasocial freak, but I think his personality was just "too big" for the times and circumstances he grew up in ✨ I bet he got told "you're too much" SO many times. Im still lowkey convinced hes bi (secsual...polar?) and someone who "was around" alot. Also, I think the drinking bit was true, maybe exaggerated slightly to paint him as THE bad boy from BAD RUSSIA, and that he definitely has an histrionic streak to him with a tiny dash of antisocial inclinations that got him in trouble an handful of times. I've read multiple russian articles about his past relationships and the dynamics he had with his now wife were super weird based on my background (italian catholic). He basically dumped Tatiana, who seems such a sweet lady, to be with another "hotter" woman he did Ice age with and THEN got back to her ONLY when the other woman DUMPED HIM because, in her opinion, he was an egomaniac. I too have an "odd" father and believe me when I say it could be exhausting at times growing up as his daughter. With men like that is always "me, me, me". BUT MAYBE I'M WRONG.
