As a kikuyu living in Marsabit, It also buffled me to hear this but later I came to meet the Borana artist and asked him about it and he told me that long ago he used to be a band member(I guess a guitarist) of the artist who did the kikuyu version and then he quited and came home(Marsabit) and started composing his own songs... and so that he can remember his musical journey, he produced that one song that has the same beats like the kikuyu one..
