POV: you ask the people you meet while travelling to write one piece of advice for someone in their 20s in your notebook. as an introvert, this was a hard ask. approaching strangers is genuinely one of the hardest things for me. but a lot of the time, what i find is that once i get over that hump, i actually really enjoy talking to new people. so on my recent trip to japan, i decided to push myself out of my comfort zone a little. but funny enough, i still spent the first two days just debating whether i’d go through with it. so i started easy with hotel staff, airbnb hosts. and eventually i cold approached a stranger. to many, it’s nothing life-changing, but this little project opened my eyes that we’re all from completely different countries, living in different time zones yet still carrying very similar burdens. and the thing i was most afraid of - bothering people, barely happened. more often than not, it just put a smile on someone’s face and i got to hear their perspective about life (: sometimes you just have to do the thing you’re scared of because a lot of the time, what’s waiting behind it is simply worth it. to everyone who left a mark on these pages - thank you for being part of this book.
