im the same way. there are more effective tool. I got my ass beat all the time. the pain was never temporary and with out the reason why it never sunk in. then it transitioned to SA.....

It was a long time ago but I saw that the “they get to hit you back” method also allows for more effective empathy growth. Kids don’t naturally start developing it until 4-5 most of the time but if what I read was right it could be helpful
