@za_reptiles: Whenever someone asks me what species makes the best education animal, they usually expect a tidy list of reptiles to go buy. Truth is, picking an ambassador animal has almost nothing to do with the species and everything to do with the individual. You could have the most show stopping reptile in the world, but if crowds stress them out or they don't handle travel well, putting them in an education program isn't fair to them. Welfare always comes before the wow factor. The best ambassador is simply the animal whose personality fits the routine: 1. They tolerate noise and commotion without getting overwhelmed 2. They have a solid foundation of trust built through consistent handling 3. They genuinely do not mind the lifestyle Some animals thrive in the spotlight and some prefer to stay home in their enclosures, and that is completely fine.
