we’ve lost the plot and no longer strive for accountability and apology. we’re obsessed with punishment.

this how i know “accountability” culture isn’t real. it’s always “this person needs to address this” until they address it, then it’s “too late”and “they could never make me like you anyways” or “this isn’t enough”. and then they actively take steps to rectify it, and then it’s “they’re trying to make us forget” 💀 you can’t win

A lot of people act like cops. They got a cop’s mentality.

She was a biracial woman born and raised in California, to a white mom biracial in a white suburb and abandoned by a black father. All of that is really an uphill battle in loving your blackness. It almost feels unfair to judge her considering it is ALOT easier for people say like...born in the black belt and raised by and around black people to foster a sense of self love and a lot of us still dont. It gives victim blaming lowkey.

I’m reading the comments and it’s honestly baffling to me how many people are talking as if she did something to them personally. Talking about “I don’t forgive her” “it’s gonna take time for her to earn my forgiveness”… like what are we talking about? Like am I alone in thinking that sounds ridiculous? She doesn’t know us and she doesn’t need our forgiveness. Only person that she needs to forgive is herself and that’s what she’s doing. It’s very weird and parasocial to think you “forgiving” her is important at all.

I literally did not like her and she gave a transparent explanation for the reasons why and NOW I have to like her.

I mean but are we going to forget that doja literally called her fans "weird" for relating to her music in a vulnerable and emotional way? why should her vulnerability and emotions be met with more respect and empathy than she gave others??

shes like 30 dude 😭 i guess it could be excusable if some of her wildest offenses werent 3 yrs prior. but we have got to stop holding space for ppl to “change” when they need to feel the consequences of their actions in a real way. like u can think shes cool and u can enjoy her style and aesthetic/music but shes not entitled to anyones empathy or forgiveness. you can enjoy her. i feel like the response only even exists cus shes tired of ppl spamming racial chat rooms in all of her comment sections

Yes! But I also feel Doja hurt herself more than anyone else. So I don’t get why people are making it seem like she hurt someone else.

not everyone has to hold space for her. when i was a little girl i was looking for other little black girls like me but they were all assimilating and okay with racist jokes. if i knew better in hs, so did she. for all those saying “how did it affect YOU” it affects all of us.
