@teresondupuy: It wasn’t their potential. It was your projection. Sometimes we fall in love with who we believe someone could become. Their highest self. Their healed self. Their awakened self. Their emotionally available self. But what if a lot of what you saw in them was actually you? Your depth. Your capacity. Your vision. Your willingness to grow. Your ability to love. You projected those qualities onto them because they already existed so strongly within you. And that can keep you attached to a version of someone who is not actually showing up in reality. Sometimes you have to come down out of the spiritual story and look at the 3-D. Look at the behavior. Look at the choices. Look at the consistency. Look at what they are actually capable of giving right now. Potential is not a relationship. Behavior is. You are allowed to stop loving someone for who they might become and start believing who they are showing you they are today. That is not giving up.
