If you play by the rules as if you were in a tournament, every round gets logged. If you’re taking gimmes for birdy+, taking mulligans, free drops etc, then you shouldn’t enter it. It doesn’t matter what you shot.

if you enter a poor round, it won't knock out one of the best 8 anyway. so your handicap shouldn't go up in theory. unless it's one of the 20 rounds that gets knocked out and the other 12 rounds are also poor. it won't impact it much either way

Comp rounds only… handicap rules need to change for comps. Handicap comp scoring needs to reward consistency and adjust for variance of score so sand bangers get caught.
