It hurts me when Khan (varkas) even thought that Varkas don’t deserve Thalia’s love. It really pains me when Thalia’s only way of loving is being harsh, and she knows it was not good but its the only language she was taught. If I could just kill her mother, the twin and the emperor!

To those keep on commenting he can save both, which part you don’t understand that he is in-fact bound, curse with an oath that no matter what happen he will automatically save the twins when it comes to danger. And take note, Varkas already put Thalia first on the safe place but still she went to follow him. I love Thalia , she deserves to be happy but lets make sure to read with reading comprehension and not with biases for us to better understand the plot.

You can see the love they have for each other. Even though Varkas is cursed to protect the twins, I think Ayla used it as an opportunity for Varkas to get away from Thalia and head back to Ayla. That’s my theory, based on the comments I’ve read the dragon was targeting Thalia to begin with. I’m sure it hurts Varkas that he can’t prioritise Thalia as you can clearly see from his expression and eyes. And poor Thalia isn’t aware of the curse
