@josephinegainz: how lifting lighter changed my fitness journey disclaimer: this is my personal experience and I’m not saying that weightlifing or lifting heavy is bad or that this will happen to everyone weightlifting has so many benefits, but we’ve been made to believe that we have to lift heavy to make progress and that was a misconception that costed me as much as I love lifting heavy, I personally experienced more inflammation, fatigue, slower recovery and overall I wasn’t happy with how I looked or felt since switching to lighter weights, I’ve fallen in love with lifting again and feel so much better in my body figure out what works best for you and your body because we’re all beautifully different #gym #GymTok #gymgirl #fitnessjourney #weightlifting

Strength training at max weight is meant to be about 20% of your yearly training time. Your current training style will lead to repetitive strain injuries. Look into periodization and moving through program cycles.

I've gone through a similar experience, where I was feeling super fatigued, always sore and stressed. But I made a different change. I still lift heavy, but I've adopted a low volume approach. Fewer training days, fewer sets per workout and doing more cardio (biking) instead. Despite these changes, my performance in the gym has only improved while feeling much better

okay, so the thing about "lifting heavy" that people many people mess up is that they lift weight that they cannot handle safely and with control. for example, you could do a 5-rep deadlift at 2.5x your bw but with shitty form. Or, you could do lower they weight, say 2x bw and do the same 5 reps with impeccable form. Both are heavy, but only one is useful and sustainable. EVERYONE should absolutely incorporate "heavy lifting" but you gotta know what you're doing for both short- and long-term gainz. P.S. I'm still recovering from a herniated disc dating back to 2019, and I'm just starting to lift heavy again. cheers
