@utahcorrectionswatch: Utah taxpayers should be asking a very basic question: Where are the KPIs? The Utah Department of Corrections is a $500 million-plus operation, and this presentation was given to lawmakers on August 19 about drug policy inside Utah prisons. UDC describes serious problems involving Suboxone diversion, violence, coercion, contraband and security. But where are the numbers that show the scale of the problem, the trend over time, the cost, and whether the response is actually working? How many incidents? How many assaults? How many seizures? What are the overdose trends? What are the mortality trends? What does interdiction cost? What does treatment cost? What improved? Maybe UDC tracks all of this internally. If they do, taxpayers and legislators should be able to see the dashboard.
