One thing that should scare you as a human being is the fact that we’ve lived as humans for over 300,000 years, and in the future, we might even find evidence suggesting that we’ve been around for much longer than that. Yet we only have about 5,000 years of recorded human history, and even within those 5,000 years, we barely know anything. We don’t know what the average person’s life was like. We don’t know what the average child’s life was like. We know very little. Now, think about everything that could have happened during those 300,000 years, or even the roughly 295,000 years before recorded history. So many things could have happened. So many civilizations could have risen and fallen. And that begs the question what actually happened during all that time? Another thing that stands out is that no matter what part of the world you go to, even the most remote villages or the least developed nations, you will find religion. That is not a coincidence. For example, according to the Bible, Abraham had an experience in which he believed that there was a God leading him, guiding him, protecting him, and favoring him. In so many different parts of the world, countless other people have had similar experiences, but they attributed those experiences to different gods. That is not a coincidence. There are probably things out there, or entities out there, that are watching us and trying to prevent us as humans from becoming one. Over the years, different means of separating us have emerged, color, race, religion, class, and so many other things. Different ways have been created to divide us. In fact, racism, at least in the sense of people defining certain racial groups as inherently inferior, is relatively recent in human history. Over the years, so many things have emerged that have separated us. So many things continue to divide us. And if you look at the world today, we are still incredibly divided. The one thing that has been created that is helping to bring us together is the internet. If it weren’t for the internet, many of us wouldn’t even know what the lives of the average Nigerian, American, Indian, or Chinese person are actually like.

The apologists in the comments don’t get that we can study the Israelite (Canaanite) religious practices before the influence of Zoroastrianism. It’s even right there in your Bible. Remember how it called YHWH the ‘Most High’ ? And that they were commanded to put him above all other Gods? YHWH was but one of many in the Canaanite pantheon, including his wife Asherah, El, Baal etc. They only doubled down on one God during and after captivity in Babylon.

Cool story bro. Except for the Israelite religion and worship of YHWH existed long before Cyrus or Persian domination. Maybe ur onto something with influence but not that that religion came from them.

I've been out of college for 30 years. Learning about the Zorastrianism influence on the exiled Jews was one of the major things I took away from my World Religion course and it started me down the path to leave religion. For me, once I stopped fearing hell, my whole organized faith fell apart.

i always thought it was funny that god tortured job cause he wanted to prove a point to the satan (or who developed into regular devil, the torture guy). no matter how many times ppl try to explain the story to me and we read it im like no, job wanted god to save him because the satan was torturing him unbeknownst to job who thought he somehow wronged god. then gods like wow no im not gonna explain myself, ur just a human with limited vision u cant see my big picture. when the big picture was god winning a bet.

also the absence of logic in the bible points to it being man made. like when god punished all mankind for eternity for disobedience, yet disobedience doesn't even make it in the 10 commandments

Correct me if wrong please. Yahweh is the Christian God and Yahweh was a God fused by the Israelites with another God called El because they needed a more war like God (Yahweh) instead of a peaceful one (El) who woudnt help their constant attack like situation. Yahweh was originally a War God(something like that) im assuming people back then created Gods for eveything (Thunder,rain,fire) Yahweh might have been one of them?(War God) so are Christians basically worshiping a God that MIGHT have been created from a group of people who where under constant attack and desperately needed something that could give them hope…? 😅
