@ehis_light: *UPDATED: National Vice-Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has died at the age of 64.* Orbih, who was the Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, was also the Chairman of the Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. He died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement released by his family. A prominent figure in Edo State politics, Orbih was a close ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and had remained an influential voice within the PDP. He was from Ogbona in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State. The late politician, whose full name was Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, was born on October 27, 1961. He would have turned 65 in October. Fondly known as “Kulukulu 1” and “Oduma of Africa”, Orbih was survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and other members of his extended family. In a statement titled “In Loving Memory”, the family announced his death, describing him as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle. “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026,” the statement read. The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourn the loss. “Further details will be announced in due course. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the family said. The statement was signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq., on behalf of the Orbih family.
