Elder Millennial. 17yo at 9/11 and yeah it was mostly Toby Keith that led the whole "Murica and trucks and stuff". I miss the country of the 90s and earlier

Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, Marty Robbins. 60s-80s were banging for Country artists that actually had something to say, or at least an awesome story to tell. Today's popular stuff often seems to revel in how vapid it is.

Nashville has had an iron grip on radio country for damn near a century at this point. All the movers and shakers of yesteryears country have fought hand and fist against Nashville. remember grand ol opre banned drums because they didn't want "Jungle music" taking over country. Johnny Cash, Dolly, Willie Nelson, Merl hagger, and the list fucking goes on for days fought Nashville over their music on the radio. want to fight Nashville. turn off the radio and block the country top 10. because it's all fake and selected by a board room.

80s and 90s country were the best. It fizzled in the 2000s. Has been awful since

Remember when country music was anti-authority sung by outlaws, but all we got now is rhinestone cowboys cosplaying as working men

9/11 ruined the entire radio for rock and country stations, I try to explain to people born after 2000 how much the entire entertainment industry changed

Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Charley Crockett, Colter Wall, Waxahatchee, the Deslondes. There’s a lot of good country, but it’s not the Republican mainstream country
