@factvault08_: In 1965, six teenage boys from Tonga ran away from their boarding school aboard a stolen fishing boat. Their escape quickly turned into a fight for survival when a powerful storm destroyed the boat’s sail and rudder. After drifting across the Pacific for eight days, they eventually reached the remote, uninhabited island of ʻAta. They would remain stranded there for 15 months. But unlike the chaos depicted in Lord of the Flies, the boys created an organized system based on cooperation and discipline. They divided responsibilities, maintained a permanent fire, collected rainwater, grew vegetables, and even built a small exercise area. They also made a homemade guitar to keep themselves entertained and maintain morale. When one of the boys broke his leg, the others worked together to set it with sticks and cared for him until he recovered. In September 1966, after more than a year on the island, the six teenagers were finally rescued by an Australian sea captain. Their incredible ordeal became a real-life story of friendship, teamwork, discipline, and survival.
