The Chalk used to be a classic Chelsea pub The Queens Heads. Originally built in 1840, and named after Queen Victoria, who took the throne three years earlier. It then became one of Chelsea’s first openly gay friendly pubs in the 1950s, becoming affectionately known as ‘the old Queen’; pun intended. It then closed its doors in 2016 after a dispute with there landlord over renewal of the lease.
