After Helene I learned: water, baby wipes, body powder, pads, shower caps, flash lights, oil lamp, buddy heaters with extra green tanks, camping stove, plastic silverware, paper plates and bowls, can opener, first step meds (headache, stomach, mucus/sinus/cold, sleep aid), and food. Bucket, pool noodle, kitty litter or small trash bags for a toilet.

Don’t forget ziplock baggies, parchment paper, aluminum foil. Don’t forget salt and seasonings! And don’t stuff for kids like puzzles, coloring books, crayons board games.

This might sound extra but people who wear glasses should keep an extra pair with emergency stuff or with epi pens etc. if the world is in chaos I at least want to be able to see if my glasses break or get lost. 🥹

If it's a situation where electricity and power is out for an extended period of time a grill might not be the best option especially if you live around people. Look into canning ready to eat meals.

For bath wipes, the navy blue ones at target labeled “up&up extra large cleansing cloths,” that come in a 48-pack for $3.19, are the best. Hands down. They have a really good sudsy foam that gets all the gunk and funk off, and work nearly as well as a shower when a shower isn’t possible. 110% worth the $3.19, even if you’re on a tight budget like we are.
