@the_travelette: Discovering the Islamic side of Europe, one country at a time. One of my favourite things about travelling over the last few years has been discovering a side of Europe I honestly knew so little about Muslim Europe. 🤍 Before visiting places like Bosnia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania and beyond, I never really connected Europe with Islam. When I thought of European travel, I pictured the usual cities, landmarks and old towns, but rarely thought about mosques, Muslim communities, Ottoman history or the Islamic heritage woven so deeply into these places. And I think that’s because it simply hasn’t been highlighted enough in the travel world. The more I travelled, the more I realised just how much there is to discover beautiful mosques tucked into old towns, bazaars, halal food, Ottoman architecture and Muslim communities with generations of history. And I genuinely feel like Muslim Europe is finally emerging on the travel map, which makes now such an exciting time to explore it. Before these places become overly touristy, while the hidden gems still feel hidden and before everyone discovers just how beautiful this part of Europe really is. There’s something so special about realising that a place you thought you knew has an entirely different story to tell. #europe #muslimtravel #halaltravel #hijabtravel
