@ajmatali1: On August 26, 2026, a catastrophic flash flood struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Nepal–Tibet border. A huge collapse of rock and ice in the high Himalayas sent an enormous mass of water, rock, mud and sediment into the Lhende Khola, a tributary connected to the Bhote Koshi river system. The resulting surge moved rapidly downstream, producing destructive flooding and debris flows. The scale was enormous. Preliminary observations indicated that river levels in affected areas rose by as much as about 9 meters within 30 minutes. The force of the water and debris destroyed or severely damaged homes, roads, bridges, vehicles and critical infrastructure, while cutting off communities and making rescue operations extremely difficult. And this wasn’t confined to one location. The flood traveled through connected river valleys, affecting areas on both sides of the Nepal–Tibet border. Thousands of people were killed, missing, or displaced, while rescue teams continued searching affected communities.
