Some people don’t realize we saw this live. We saw the second tower hit on live TV. We saw the towers fall knowing, not only were people still inside, but fire fighters went inside as we watched them come down on LIVE TV. We watched an explosion at the pentagon ON LIVE TV. A FULL PLANE WENT MISSING FROM RADAR ON LIVE TV. We had no idea what was going on or what was next.

And younger generation doesn't think anything of this day. It was horrifying to watch this unfold live... worse bc I lived nearby and could smell it for weeks

My cousin was Squad 1 he ran through the tunnel to help so many people. He unfortunately lost his life that day when the second tower fell. Gary you are the bravest person I have ever known.

Never understood why they let this play in elementary school classrooms everywhere. I was in 5th grade when I saw the plane hit the Pentagon where my Dad and Aunt worked. My Aunt didn’t come home that evening. Another classmate lost their mom and another their dad. It was traumatizing.

I was in 5th grade and watched this live. My brother had just joined the army and I knew our lives would never be the same. I got so hysterical I had to be taken out of class. I sat in the library curled up beside my mom, who was a lunch lady, and holding the hand of my childhood librarian as my world changed forever. Truly devastating.

Reenlisted at ground zero. I was 7 when it happened and I carried those emotions to motivate me to join the army. It was such devastating feeling to so many of us, we couldn’t do anything but watch.

It’s so hard to explain to kids and younger ppl who didn’t live through this day how life changed forever. The horror and fear that day and from there on after. Also the way it united our country will never happen again probably

And the ONE rookie who they didn’t have room for on the truck survived, he arrived the the south tower on another truck after them, and started into the south tower to go up after them right as it began to collapse. He was badly injured but survived by being blown away from the building by the force of the collapse and was rescued by an EMT. The only survivor from Ladder 35. It like his ladder protected the kid of the group by sending him on a different truck which meant he did not ascend the south tower with them.
